    Where the hell did you learn all that bolllocks about the "Swedish death metal" setting ... you know it was a joke, right?? I'm Norwegian, and got the HM2 from a kid up the street in 1984, so I was a second owner of an HM2 from 1983. We used those for sculpting almost any sound at any level with ofter pedals into our Peavey and Roland combo amps or Marshall stacks set absolutely clean! Take a listen to David Gilmour's About Face , Toto Fahrenheit or Innocence is no excuse by Saxon ... you kids have been fooled all the time! Dude, it's a multi-stage distortion PREAMP not supposed to go into an already distorted amp, it will sound like utter SHAIT!!!

    I have the Peluso.... It's a very good Mic... There's a bit cheaper equivalents these days as the markets gotten so crowded... And there's no need to try to get super close to the U47..... I do really like a tube in before the preamp phase.... And the transformer is also very nice. There are so many good options.... The output on the Peluso is perfectly fine....

    I have tons of old tech (Including Pod Pro), I and can tell you, IMO, the Rolland GP-100 tones and so musical and amazing compared to to the Pod stuff of this era, the Pod sounds absolutely brittle and like a toy transistor amp when compared to the Rolland. Even the effects in the Pod are hard to describe... whatever the word is for "The opposite of lush" would be a good description

    Thanks for a very cool and Nostalgic video! My first experience of line6 pod was back in 2000. The guitarist in one of my old bands used the bean shaped POD. I didn’t like it at all at the time, mostly because he couldn’t dail it in and the clean sound was twice as loud as the dirty tone 😂. A couple of years later the guitarists in another band I played in started to use Line 6 Vetta amps, And big floorboards connected with Ethernet cables. That was quite advance for its time. And you could blend different amps and output in stereo. One of the guitarists was a big Line 6 fan and also has the Variax guitar! At one show he accidentally switched his guitar so it sounded like a Banjo 😂. I used that to record a lot back in late 2000s and we still have one Vetta left.

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec Місяць тому

      Seems like Line 6 sometimes get a bad rep caused by the users getting lost in all the options. A little bit like the Boss Metal Zone pedal that everybody remembers as horrible, but is actually pretty great. I hate the Variax guitar though. The banjo story makes me like it a little more haha.

    Just use a crunchy tube preamp and push the Marshall preamp tubes. Now you've got two or three stages of tube gain. Throw the tube screamer in for a mid boost.

      Back in the early 2000s they used line 6. I believe it was the vettas though, not the pod pro. I don't know if there's much difference. But that was only for touring, they have always used real amps in the studio.

  • @SecretMetalFromAbyss

    I have Pod XT pro which is "better" version of this classic. Never got the sound I wanted out of that thing but kept it just because of the great tuner. :D If I ever end up doing some doom or sludge stuff I'd definitely try using that Pod xt as a preamp through some Engl or Marshall poweramps with a real cap. Dirt should be imminent. :D

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec Місяць тому

      Could it be that a lot of the presets are pretty bad? Try dialling it back to basics. I feel like the amps are pretty good but comes with too much cheesy effects and settings.

    I have ATC SCM45 pro here. Then at some time I could buy some Dynaudio BM12 from a bankruptcy. I am honestly surprised how good they are. They honestly sound more neutral than the ATC's. The ATC's are more detailed and wider though, better in the mid but that's normal, them being 3 way vs the 2 way Dynaudio. But I honestly use the BM12"s now as mains and the ATC as reference. Weird since I paid the BM12 only 1200 euro for the pair and the ATC's were around 11k!! If I'm honest, the ATC's are not worth that big of a price difference imo.

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec Місяць тому

      A regular good quality bantam patch bay is about $1700 and then 48 patch cables at $30 each if you want to be able to have all the patch options. That’s over $3000 for just jacks and cables. Just to put it in perspective. A lot of things in the studio cost more than a MacBook Pro when you start thinking about it.

    This is just sample replacement. What you hear in the edit is correcting audio levels and ensuring the triggered samples are audible. This is nothing new. Most recorded live performances are edited afterwards because in large arenas sounds tend to get lost. Sample replacement is also nothing new for metal drummers. Many use it. Vinnie Paul of Pantera triggered all his drums. In this case I would assume the trigger wasn't set correctly, or Lars didn't hit hard enough to trigger the sample, or the trigger fell off the drum, or the engineer made a mistake. I would agree with those who say Lars isn't the best metal drummer, and he has had some inconsistent moments. But to be fair he has stated he's experienced significant hearing loss which can make playing live a real challenge. The man has aged, get he continues to play tempos that many half his age can't. He has reached levels of success that his haters will likely never reach. His drum composition has been a huge part of Metallica's success. If you consider that the majority of younger metal drummers are using triggers extensively throughout their careers, and that Metallica has only recently used it because the technology wasn't available in their earlier days.
